Some species
of antelope can reach speeds of 60 miles per hour (100 kilometers
per hour), making them among the fastest of land animals.
That is one speedy animal, in fact, many cars from the 1940s
and 1950s have trouble reaching this speed. We thought it would
be fun to see how long it would take some popular automobiles
to reach 60 mph from a standstill - keep in mind the fastest
antelopes can do this in just under 9 seconds.
2005 Toyota Corolla - 9.5
seconds
2005 Honda Civic - 9.3 seconds
2006 Ford F-150 - 10.8 seconds
2005 Volkswagen Beetle - 10.1 seconds
2006 Chevrolet Cavalier - 9.7 seconds
2005 Ferrari Enzo - 3.2 seconds
So there you have it, proof that certain species of antelope
are faster from 0-60 than most of the cars you either drive
or see on the road on a daily basis.
